An X (Twitter) MCP server that watches X for you

Your agent asks about X and gets the posts and replies that matter, already found and scored. No developer account, no keys, no bill per post read, and 15 more sources on the same server.

Paste into your terminal for Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http rumoro https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp
  • No X developer account
  • Posts and replies, checked every hour

Who on X talked about Quillstack this week?

rumoro - search_mentions (MCP)(platform: "x", relevant: true, since: "2026-10-01")

26 mentions

26 relevant posts and replies. Two need you today:

@marta_ships is comparing you with Paperline

@devon_builds asks whether the API has rate limits

Send negative posts about us to #support as they arrive.

rumoro - create_alert (MCP)(mode: "instant", filter: { platforms: ["x"], sentiments: ["negative"] })

alert created

Done. Negative posts on X now reach #support as soon as they're scored.

A monitor, not a live search

What your agent gets from an X MCP server

The usual X MCP server is a thin layer over the X API: a developer account, keys and tokens in a local config, and $0.005 billed for every post the model reads. X's own hosted server also runs on your developer app.

Rumoro does the searching ahead of time. It checks X for your keywords every hour, replies included, stores the matches and scores each one against what your company does. So when you ask, the answers are already waiting: this week's complaints, posts weighing you against a rival, large accounts that brought you up.

Reddit, Hacker News, LinkedIn and the other sources sit on the same server, so a single question spans all of them.

Connect

One URL and a sign-in

Every client uses the same address, https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp. The first call opens Rumoro in your browser; approve the client for a workspace and it stores the token itself.

  1. Claude Code

Add the server, then in a session open /mcp, pick rumoro and choose Authenticate. Full steps →

claude mcp add --transport http rumoro https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp
    /mcp
  2. Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then open Customize, find rumoro among the MCP servers and complete the sign-in. Full steps →

  3. Codex

Add the server, then sign in. The browser opens and Codex keeps the token. Full steps →

Next, give it something to watch on X

Create a keyword limited to X in the dashboard, or ask your agent to. It begins with recent posts from the past month and adds each new match after that.

Watch "acme cloud" on X only and tell me what turns up.

Then just ask

What you can ask about X

Ask in plain words; your agent chooses the tool. All of these work on day one.

“Pull this week's X posts about us that deserve an answer.”

rumoro · search_mentions

“Which big accounts, 10,000 followers and up, talked about our competitor lately?”

rumoro · list_people

“Show me replies where people weigh us against a competitor.”

rumoro · search_mentions

“Alert #support in Slack the moment someone on X is unhappy with us.”

rumoro · create_alert

“Ignore these three bot accounts from now on.”

rumoro · update_filters

“Write draft answers to the top five questions people asked us on X.”

MCP tools

The tools an X workflow uses most

55 tools in all, each doing one thing the REST API does. Read access gives your agent the 29 read tools; read and write adds the other 26.

search_mentions

X posts and replies your keywords caught, narrowed by score, sentiment, intent, followers or dates.

get_mention

A single post with everything Rumoro decided about it: the 0–100 score, sentiment, intents and a note.

update_mention

Close, ignore, assign or snooze a post, or overrule the AI when it judged one wrong.

add_keyword

Start a keyword limited to X or across every source, with words it must or mustn't contain.

update_filters

Block words and accounts for the whole workspace.

create_alert

Route matching posts to Slack, Telegram, email or a webhook, one by one or bundled.

get_share_of_voice

How often you come up next to your competitors, on X alone or everywhere.

list_people

The accounts behind the posts, with their reach, ranked by how often they mention you.

When another server is the better fit

  • You have X API credit and want live or full-archive searches on demand.
  • You want the agent to post, reply or bookmark as you.
  • You only care about X.

When Rumoro is the better fit

  • You need to know whenever your product, a rival or your problem space shows up.
  • You'd rather not keep X API keys, and a bill for every read, on each machine.
  • You want matches scored, routed to Slack, and one view of every source.

X MCP questions

Questions about the X MCP server

What is an X MCP server?

It's a server that speaks the Model Context Protocol, so AI clients like Claude, Cursor and Codex can call it as tools for X (Twitter). Open-source ones and X's own hosted server use your X developer credentials and search when asked. Rumoro's needs none of that and works from a feed it keeps: your keywords, watched on X and other sources, with every post scored.

Do I need X API keys?

No. Rumoro searches X itself, so there's no developer account to open, no keys or tokens to store and no charge for each post read. Sign in to Rumoro in the browser once, or give a headless machine a Rumoro API key.

How is it different from X's own MCP server?

X's server, hosted at api.x.com/mcp, calls the X API with your own developer app: an app-only token for reading, or a local bridge to act as you. It searches when the model asks and returns raw results. Rumoro watches your keywords on its own, keeps and scores every match, and adds alerts and other sources.

Can it post to X?

No. Rumoro only reads posts and replies. Your agent can write a draft, and you decide whether to post it.

How much does it cost?

Using the MCP server adds nothing to your bill. Rumoro charges for what it tracks: $5 for each keyword a month and $0.008 for each matched post, taken from credit you top up, with no subscription. New workspaces get $5.80 to start.
