TikTok MCP server questions

Is there an official TikTok MCP server?

Yes, for ads. TikTok for Business runs one that creates campaigns, sets targeting and reads ad reports; it doesn't search public videos or show who mentions you. Rumoro's server does that, independently of TikTok.

What is a TikTok MCP server?

A way for Claude, Cursor or Codex to work with TikTok through the Model Context Protocol. Most run ads or publish videos; a few search live with a scraping key. Rumoro's keeps every new video that names you, scores it, and the same server covers 16 sources: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit and more.

Do I have to log in to TikTok or apply for its API?

No. TikTok's Research API is open only to academic and non-profit researchers, so Rumoro reads public search results through a data provider and never uses a TikTok login of yours. Sign in to Rumoro once, or give a server a Rumoro API key.

How do I connect the TikTok MCP server to Claude?

From a terminal, claude mcp add --transport http rumoro https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp adds it to Claude Code; pick Authenticate under /mcp after that. In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, add https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp as a custom connector under Customize › Connectors. Then ask Claude to track your product on TikTok only.

Will it catch a video that names my brand only when speaking?

Yes. If a video carries subtitles, written by the creator or generated by TikTok, your keyword is matched in what is said too, and the mention is marked as heard in speech. Videos with no subtitles are matched on their caption and hashtags alone.

Does it search all of TikTok, or only my keywords?

Only what your keywords matched. Each keyword is searched every 3 hours, and a new one starts with the newest 10 videos from the last 30 days. To look up any term just once, a live-search server with its own key fits better.

How much does it cost?

Tool calls are free. Following your product and one rival on TikTok costs $10.00 a month, and each matched video $0.008, so 200 videos add $1.60. Credit is prepaid, and every new workspace starts with $5.80.
