# Instagram MCP server

Find out from Claude, Cursor or Codex which Instagram posts and reels name you. Rumoro searches captions and, for a one-word name, its hashtag, then marks how relevant, positive or negative each post is. Instagram is one of 16 sources.

Server URL

or paste this into Claude Code

`claude mcp add --transport http rumoro https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp`

- Likes and comments on each post
- OAuth sign-in, 55 MCP tools

What you get done

## Four Instagram jobs off your plate. Replies, creators, mood, alerts.

### Comment where your customers post

Posts and reels that name you, newest first, so you can answer under them while people are still reading.

`search_mentions`

### Know which creators feature you

The accounts that post about you, ranked by how often, each kept with your tags and notes.

`list_people`

### Read the mood around your brand

Positive, neutral and negative posts counted over any stretch of time, with complaints and praise tagged apart.

`get_analytics_breakdown`

### Hand good posts to your social team

Each relevant post goes to Slack, Telegram, email or a webhook, so someone can like, comment or reshare it.

`create_alert`

Every one of the 55 tools mirrors a REST call. Read-only access gives 29; read and write unlocks the remaining 26. [MCP tool reference ↗](https://docs.rumoro.dev/mcp/tools)

Compared

## Instagram MCP servers run your own account. Rumoro watches what others post.

### Rumoro

- No Meta app or access token
- Captions, plus your hashtag
- Likes and comments on each post
- Every post scored for relevance

### Graph API servers

- A Meta app and a Business account you own
- Your own posts, DMs and insights
- Hashtag search capped at 30 a week
- No search of posts about you

Setup

## Connected without Meta. One URL and a sign-in.

1. Paste the MCP URL into your client.
2. Approve the client and your workspace on Rumoro's consent page; Meta isn't involved.
3. Ask for your brand on Instagram only. A one-word name also follows its hashtag, and the first batch is the newest 10 posts from the last 10 days.

Gemini CLI, Grok, OpenClaw, Hermes, VS Code, Windsurf and ChatGPT take the same URL. [MCP docs ↗](https://docs.rumoro.dev/mcp) · [Every agent →](https://rumoro.dev/agents)

- [Claude Code](https://rumoro.dev/claude) Then sign in: /mcp › rumoro › Authenticate. `claude mcp add --transport http rumoro https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp`
- [Codex](https://rumoro.dev/codex) Run both; the second signs you in. `codex mcp add rumoro --url https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp && codex mcp login rumoro`
- [Claude.ai and Desktop](https://rumoro.dev/claude) Add a custom connector in Customize › Connectors. `https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp`
- [Cursor](https://rumoro.dev/cursor) Goes in ~/.cursor/mcp.json; an API key works if sign-in won't open. `{ "mcpServers": { "rumoro": { "url": "https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp" } } }`

Example

## New posts since Friday? Here's what's worth a look.

What's new on Instagram about Quillstack?

rumoro · search_mentions(platform: "instagram", relevant: true, since: "2026-10-10")

7 posts and reels. One deserves a comment:

- A reel from @buildinpublic walks through Quillstack's setup
- @saas.tools lists Quillstack next to Paperline

Prompts

## Ask about Instagram in your own words. A few to begin with.

- “Any new posts or reels about Quillstack since Friday?”
- “Which accounts post about Quillstack most often?”
- “Follow 'quillstack' on Instagram and send each new post to #social in Slack.”
- “What do people complain about in Instagram posts that mention Paperline?”
- “Which posts about Quillstack got the most likes this month?”
- “Draft a short comment I could leave under the two most relevant posts.”

Pricing

## No Meta app, no API bill. You pay per keyword and per post.

- **$5** for each keyword, monthly
- **$0.008** per post or reel matched
- **$5.80** to try it, no card

Prepaid credit, no subscription, and no Meta developer app to set up. [Pricing →](https://rumoro.dev/pricing)

## Instagram MCP server questions

### Is there an official Instagram MCP server?

Not for posts about you. Meta's official Ads MCP server manages Facebook and Instagram ad accounts, and Graph API servers run a Business account you own. Neither searches what others post; Rumoro's server does, with no Meta app.

### What is an Instagram MCP server?

It gives Claude, Cursor or Codex tools for Instagram through the Model Context Protocol. Most post, answer DMs or read insights for your own account. Rumoro's finds other people's posts and reels that name you and scores them, and the same server covers 16 sources: Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn and more.

### Do I need a Meta app or an Instagram login?

No. Rumoro spots posts on hashtag pages and in public web search, then reads them through a data provider, so no Instagram account, password or Meta token of yours is ever used. Sign in to Rumoro once, or use a Rumoro API key.

### How do I connect the Instagram MCP server to Claude?

Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http rumoro https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp, then Authenticate from /mcp. claude.ai or Claude Desktop: Customize › Connectors › + Add › Add custom connector, with https://mcp.rumoro.dev/mcp. Then ask Claude to follow your brand on Instagram.

### Why does a one-word keyword find more?

A single word is also a hashtag, so Rumoro reads the newest posts under it every 6 hours as well as searching captions. A keyword of several words is found in captions, which are searched twice a day.

### How much does it cost?

No charge for tool calls. One keyword costs $5 a month and each matched post or reel $0.008, so a brand with 120 posts a month pays $5.96. Credit is prepaid; new workspaces get $5.80.

### Can it post, comment or send DMs?

No. It only reads public posts and reels that name you. Your agent can draft a comment, and you post it from your own account.
